Capello nervous as UEFA decides to make Rooney’s appeal hearing media-friendly
Questioning glances fly across the room as in a rather random turn of events, as the UEFA invites all the media personnel to come inside and observe Wayne Rooney’ personal hearing. Excited, many journalists rush inside the room.
Inside, Rooney sits in a chair facing the panel of UEFA’s Disciplinary judges; nervous. An intimidating member of the panel begins the trial. Rooney looks around nervously at the number of reporters looking anxiously back at him, waiting for him to make
a mistake they could capitalize on.
Alongside him sits the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello. Nyon is as beautiful as can be, but Capello looks adamant as possible. He’s there for a reason.
Rooney was said to have intentionally kicked Montenegrin player Miodrag Dzudovic, and was then sent off. The FA has come up with reasonable evidence to prove that the incident was not intentional, that Rooney did not mean to kick Dzudovic. They have also
prepared evidence that shows that the English striker apologised immediately and did not argue with the officials when he was shown the red card.
Rooney and Capello and their legal compatriots are well-prepared here, but UEFA’s decision to let media be a witness to the appeal is something the FA might not have been prepared for.
"Despite the awaiting media scrum, who to Capello's obvious horror pursued the player into the UEFA reception area, Rooney appeared calm as he prepared to ask the three-man panel to let him play at least some part in the group stage of Euro 2012.,” wrote
BBC’s Dan Roan
"Rooney and his entourage escaped down a staircase, seeking refuge in the room used for the appeal hearing.
"But a UEFA official merely invited TV crews in to film the striker nervously awaiting his fate. A decision is expected early afternoon.”
Rooney and Capello hope to reduce Rooney’s three-match ban to at least a two match ban if not more. If the ban is not reduced, Rooney could miss all of England’s group stage match-ups at the EURO 2012.
The appeal will be heard by three UEFA members - panel chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bulgaria-c2861).
A decision could be made as early as today afternoon.
