  1. I went to a few "classes" here in Vegas. It's a great, high energy environment, but hard to get into. First couple visits, newbies just watched, and the more experienced capoeiristas would play. Usually, someone would circle around to the newbs and teach them how to do ginga and a couple basics. Seemed like you pretty much had to learn by doing.

Keep in mind, I never made it into the roda, so my experience may not be great to make any judgment by. I do know that I was dripping in sweat by the time I left, even without playing.

  2. no experience but it does look like a good work out, not to mention it looks cool and a lot of fun.

  3. capoeira is a great deal of fun

it's a game of martial art that has it's roots in the Brazilian slave culture

The slaves were forbidden to practice martial art and thus hid their training in a gave of dance and music.

No other martial art so advocates the idea of fun so much as capoeira as it in in basics a game.  you play with others in a circle of fellow people that make music and sing thus making rhythm to which you play

it's very physical so expect to be soar in certain areas after the first few trainings.  specially the thighs

if you have the possibility try to up your physique and stamina before you start.  (which doesn't mean that you couldn't train other wise but it's an advantage)

furthermore just enjoy yourself once you feel the energy that capoeira has in it, you are hooked for life

  4. as a beginner you will have little problems in your flexibility(it happened for me) but after your first month, you get more flexible and probably be able to do a split. after the first month you get a better condition and you start to understand all the kicks and the sweeps and the dodges. it is an exelent martial art to practice, i defenetly recomend it

  5. it is a lot of fun and it is a pretty awesome workout. when you start you will probably just do some basics and probably some conditioning sort of stuff using different muscles. you will have sore muscles all over your body the next day in lots of places you wernt really expecting. just go and have a lot of fun with it.

i really love capoeira but i cant train in it anymore because there is nowhere near by that teaches it.
