  1. Because they know we don't drink responsibly ;D

  2. I think you got it wrong. Capt Morgan's Private Stock is for people who know nothing whatsoever about rum, that's why they give it to the Americans who lack taste in just about everything.

If you think Cpat. Morgan's Private Stock is better then any rum on UK shelves, sorry to tell you, you don't know anything about rum either. If the producers thought it was better then anything else on UK shelves, I can assure you they would launch it in the UK tomorrow. The Producers know it just is not good enough. If it was they would launch it and make the fortune, but they know they can't compete with great rums.

What you are saying is the same as, "Cheap Spanish brandy is better then the finest French Cognac. It must be because I like it."

  3. We drink more of the stuff is my guess.

Can always buy it from the US if its that big of a deal.

  4. The english understand hierarchy, now get back in your place.

  5. Captain Morgans private stock is c**p, give it a fancy name and those stupid yanks will buy it. Same as they do with some really dreadful scotch, stick a label Glen Whatever on it they love it. Christ have you tasted bourbon ?

  6. Diageo is a UK company, but the brand is US-based.  A French company, Pernod-Ricard, owns the American whisky-maker Wild Turkey, but many of WT's bottlings aren't available in France.

The reason they don't market it in the UK is a combination of two factors: first, the perceived lack of demand for top-shelf spiced rum in a country already saturated with aged rums, and secondly the more prohibitive cost of marketing it there would lead to less profit over all (my rule of thumb is that spirits cost twice in the UK what they do in the US), and most of the difference ends up as excise rather than profit.

You can buy it in the UK, though, if you could be deuced to spend the 30 seconds or so it would take to do an internet search for it.
