Captain Cook happy with his pace attack - Cricket News Update
English captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, was a happy man on Friday, after his men routed the visiting Australians by a 15-run defeat at Lord’s in the opening ODI.
The hosts came strong when needed the most after posting a competitive 272 on the board, courtesy a useful 89-run knock by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032. Their bowlers then came to the fray, and kept chipping in with regular wickets, while never allowing the tourists to take a commanding position during the match.
England decided to go into the match with five fast bowlers which eventually helped their cause. Captain Cook was happy in particular, with the performance of his pace attack, which bagged eight out of the nine Aussie wickets.
"What is very nice as a captain when you've got five experienced bowlers like that, they might bowl the odd bad over but they don't bowl many bad spells. So we knew we'd take it down to the wire. We just kept nipping wickets just at the right time," Cook said.

The home side bowlers were a tad expensive but they kept making inroads in the opposition’s batting line-up, which was also acknowledged by the host captain.
"As a captain it certainly makes it easier when you know they might have a bad over, you take them off and they normally get it right when they come back. That's the bonus when you've got four quality quicks," the English captain said.

The hosts have an outright chance to become the top ODI team in the world given they beat the tourists with a 5-0 margin, a task, considered impossible by most cricket pundits.
The second ODI of the series will be played at The Oval on Sunday, July 1.
