There has to be good team of 11 players first & then its upon the captian how he leads his unit. It can't be like if Steve Waugh would have lead the Bangladesh side they could win the world cup..lol.. no. So players should be talented enough to transform every move directed by a captain into a "smart move"!

A Captain could inspire a team to victory, but not necessarily, create a winning team. Success is a collective effort. But a captain is as good as his team he is been provided with. If a team plays well, all the captain needs to do is, channel the energy & vibes in the positive direction.

But the other extreme, a team could be as bad as a captain, could be true. If a captain cannot inspire a team, a good team can lose easily.
