Captivating Lass is pointed toward the Demoiselle Stakes after her successful debut
The Grade 2, $200,000 Demoiselle Stakes has reeled seven juvenile fillies to test each other’s mettle over the dirt track of the Aqueduct race course at about 1 1/8 miles, a race which is strictly for 2-year-old juvenile fillies to be held on 26 November,
2011.
Among the seven fillies in the Darley Stable owned Captivating Lass, who came out good off her maiden stakes win where she romped past her opponents to announce her arrival in the North American racing scene.
On 1 October, 2011, Kiaran P. McLaughlin trained 2-year-old filly broke her maiden at Parx Racing, where she defeated the lot by a convincing margin of 2 lengths and she will be the lone HolidayFest representative from Kiaran McLaughlin’s barn.
The daughter of A.P. Indy shot out of the gate and jumped into the lead and never looked back from there as she swung past the bend and bolted through and through to register her debut win in her first attempt and in the process she covered the distance
of a mile and 70 yards in 1 minute and 44.57 seconds.
"We liked her a lot going into the race," said McLaughlin, the trainer will send out her newly tested filly over Belmont Park’s training track on 19 November, 2011, for her final breeze ahead of the Demoiselle Stakes. "She won her only start and has been
training well. She's bred to go 1 1/8 miles."
Kiaran McLaughlin has called up Alana Garcia to be aboard Captivating Lass when she goes up against seven other juvenile fillies.
Gary C. Contessa trained Bourbonstreetgirl is also among the Demoiselle Stakes lineup, as she comes off a third place finish in the Grade 3 Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont Park on 2 October, 2011, at about 1 1/16 miles on turf under Julien Leparoux.
She finished third to winner Pure Gossip and second placed filly Mystic Mama. The winning time of the 1 1/16 mile race was 1 minute and 47.41 seconds.
Rest of the field consists of Todd Pletcher trained Disposablepleasure, Wildcat’s Smile, Brown Eyed Nance, Dreaming of Cara and another A.P Indy filly Indyniable.
