I was driving with a friend early in the morning and I couldn't drive (drinking) so I handed him the keys which was the best thing to do considering. Now he falls asleep and gets into an accident. I do not blame him however because of course it's my car but at the same time I trusted that he was OK to drive but the whole incident is just an unlucky bad break. The police officer was VERY understand and let us slide with regards to giving either one of us a DUI. In addition, he helped us corroborate a story about how we just got cut off the road which was extremely kind of him to look out for us that way. My question is for insurance premium increase purposes, does it matter who I say was driving the car? I told my insurance that we got cut off but that I was driving, not my friend.
