Car Accident in Michgan....need answers to something?

So I am a Janitor at a middle school in Holland, Michigan. A fellow coworker parked right behind me and I backed up into her. This is a privae parking lot. There wasn't a whole lot of damage done but it is still aparent. The 911 dispatcher said to just riht down eachothers information and hand it in to the insurace companies tomorrow. We both have PLPD insurance...am I ging to end up having to pay for anythng? and will my insurance go up?

  1. if this was your first accident with in the last 3 years, then probably not. sense a police report was not made, then it won't affect your premiums.  sense this was in a private lot, the other driver will have to take you to small claims court to collect for the damage that was done to their car. with just no fault insurance, that's the routine. if you settle with the other party, make sure you write a check and on the memo part of the check, write, "settlement for accident" so he/she can't sue you............

  2. No you won't have to pay anything up front for the accident/claim...but expect an accident/claim premium for 3 years in most cases...

  3. Your insurance companies may call it even if the damage to both cars is about the same.  

    However, your premiums will go up for a few years, as they do after any accident (unless your policy has a first-accident forgiveness clause).
