Car Alarm not working from far away. Why?

I have a Scytek Galaxy 5000rs-2w series remote starter and security system. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden, my remote doesnt work from 1/4 mile anymore (to unlock, lock, start the car, or anything). I have to point the remote right at the reciever on my window in order for it to unlock my car and recognize it. I was just wondering if this is a problem with my unit or did I hit some wrong buttons. Note: I was trying to enable the passive mode and that works now but the car alarm doesnt work from far away. I tried to reset it but I couldnt figure out how to do it because the instructions dont make to much sense. If anyone could help me, that would be greatly appreciated.

maybe you had some interference. my remote says 1 mile range but that only works if its in a field with no buildings and whatnot.

also you may want to check the battery on your remote. it might need replacing
