Car Audio Help?

I have two 75-watt 8-ohm 10 inch PA speakers. I want to know if I will have any problems hooking them up to use in a car. I will be hooking them up to an 800-watt amp. I want to hook up the two speakers, and two 12 inch subwoofers. Should I have any problems hooking the speakers up?

  1. That setup is possible but, you'll probably find the sound quality to be pretty disappointing.

If the car is a sedan and you manage to fit them in the boot or trunk, they will just sound muffled.  If the car is a van or suv it will probably just be very loud with unbalanced sound.

PA speakers are designed to throw sound (mainly spoken voice or micro phoned instruments) over a large area like  halls.

I would recommend saving up a bit of cash and getting proper car audio gear designed to perform in the noisy, dusty, vibrating, confined environment which most cars are.

  2. no, they should hook up fine. Sounds like you have plenty of wattage from your amp.(maybe more than enough) I would be more worried about your enclosure and taking up space. PA speakers tend to take up a lot of room.
