I have a 1996 Honda accord LX and i have bought a panasonic cq-c7301u faceplate for it. I wanted to buy some new speakers for the car, but dont really want to invest in an amp, jus tnew front and back shelf speakers. I want to be able to have some good sound as well. If i have to i guess i will get an amp, but i wanted to install the speakers myself and it seems complicated to install an amp and make sure everyhting works right. Should i get Panasonic speakers as well wince i have a panasonic faceplate?

  1. dont get panasonic speakers....go with either jl audio, mb quart or pioneer....it will always sound louder and have more clarity if u have a amp on them

  2. I'd go with mtx or kicker speakers; pricey but the BEST.  go for the amp too. it's not that hard.

ps check www.craigslist.org for these things.  I get some great deals there.

  3. if you can install the speakers i would say that you could install an amp also (plus its never too late to learn- this link will help with that http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcente... and http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcente...

as far as the speakers are concerned matching brands is good but not at all necessary

you need to decide if you want to tackle the amp installation before you buy your speakers because they need to match with the amp (or the radio) to avoid damage to either one

if you don't go with an amp pick speakers that have a sensitivity of 90dB or higher (A speaker with a sensitivity rating that's 3 dB higher than another speaker's

only needs half as much power to deliver the same amount of sound.) and don't require more that 40watts RMS because if the radio does not have the necessary RMS wattage when the volume get towards mid to higher levels they will be distorted (from a clipped signal- not enough wattage)

also i recommend getting some bass blockers http://www.crutchfield.com/g_761/Bass-Bl... they stop speaker distortion caused by excessive bass relative to speaker capability (by blocking frequencies too low for the speaker to handle)
