Car Audio?? what does the hole in a sub box do ?

  1. the hole port gives loud bass with the air exiting sealed box needs to be in trunk speakers facing trunk but yes there is a differece in bass sound

    ported box gives deep low bass, a sealed box gives high tight bass.

  3. I t is not a hole it is a tuned port, the enclosure volume , has to be tuned to the port volume,and the length determines your tuned freq.

    If you just put a hole in a sealed enclosure you will just have a leaky sealed box.

    basically, how it works is that you have x amount of air that resides inside your port let's say you have 26 sq in of port volume that means that you have 26 sq in of air occuping that space when the driver moves there is a corresponding change in air pressure that forces that air either in or out ,very similar to how a small pressure pump works, so if the enclosure is to small or too big the velocity and efficeintcy are compromised
