there was a hole in my floorboard and water pooled in a something. I am going to go get it drained and the hole filled so it doesn't happen again. But what do I do to clean the mildew smell and water damage from my carpet without tearing up the carpet?

  1. Use a wet/dry vac and suck-up as much moisture as you can. Place 3 or 4 pie pans in the vehicle and put 1/4" of household ammonia in the pans. Leave the vehicle windows open about 1/4" to provide some ventilation...While ammonia has a very powerful odor, it will help deodorize the car...As far as cleaning the carpet, take it to a professional

  2. For the health of you and your family, you should really replace the carpet. Mold and mildew kill people. Young ones can develop respiratory problems and allergies, old people get ill.  It's never good. If you decide to keep the carpet, buy some Arm & Hammer carpet freshener, they have one specifically for mildew.
