  1. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

FF is standard transverse engine front wheel drive. Honda Civic for example. Very good history as a street racer, lots of aftermarket goodie available.

FR is the front engine rear drive layout. Ford Mustang would be the example here. Long history of street racing. Good for drifting, etc. Lots of speed equipment available.

MR is mid engine rear drive like the Toyota MR2, or Porsche 914. Lots of traction and good cornering ability. No real history of success in street duels.

RR is rear engine rear drive. Like the Porsche 911 or the VW bugs of pre 76. Some history of street racing, some successes, a good supply of after market parts.

4WD four wheel drive. As opposed to AWD, this is the old school partial four wheel drive which has no history of any success in street racing.

AWD all wheel drive like the Subaru WRX and the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO is the new up and coming rage in street racing. More power to the ground means more traction and acceleration. A pretty good supply of trick parts on this. This would be my recommendation.
