Car Expense ???

My company has promised an upgrade in our car expense which at this point was last reconciled when fuel cost about $2.40 to $2.55 Per gallon. They sent out a memo over three weeks ago stating they are working on a new revised expense but as of yet have done NOTHING!!! Ive heard through the grapevine that they will have it done come july first but i'm wondering if there is a way to get reinbursement for the money ive already lost/spent for this company? I really dont have any documenttation to proove what ive lost but it should be blatentley obvious that they should owe us employees for for what we have spent out of pocket. Anyhow any tips or pointers would be appreciated.

Oh and bye the way i drive approx 2200 to 2900 mile per month for this company and never ever hear an atta boy or anything only complaints never any positives.

  1. It depends on the agreement you have with the company.  Unless there is a contract stating otherwise, the company is under no legal obligation to reimburse you for gas.  See if there is anything that says that they owe you full cost for gas rather than just general expenses.

  2. wow,

sounds like your management team REALLY cares LOL

I guess keep bugging them about it cause it hasn't been below $3 here for over a year and gas is now $4.17 a gallom(oregon)

  3. You have to have proof when you want to claim. You absolutely have to keep detailed backup documentation in your line of work. I use one gas credit card for business fill ups only. It provides me with a record of gas prices every time I fill. I have a receipt wallet in my glove box and slip in receipts on business trips (gas, meals, hotels, flights, golf, customer "graft" etc.) Using copies of your previous expense reports, check the price of gas at the time you submitted them and calculate the difference. Enter an appeal with evidence attached. Before you get started sit down and do an estimate of the amount. If you feel it is significant enough

go ahead with the research. It is worth it to stand up for yourself.
