Car Explosion while Smoking and Driving?

I have some gallons of petrol in a plastic container in the trunk of my SUV. Will the car expolde if I am smoking while driving?

  1. My first question is why are you driving around with extra fuel in the back? The BIGGEST concern would be the risk of fire if you were to be rear ended in a crash!!!


  2. SUV's have trunks ? mine is all one area...no trunk...if you can smell the gas it means fumes are getting into the cabin and it's not safe to smoke

  3. Do you really want to find out the hard way?  Even if there was only a one-in-a-million chance that this could happen, is it really worth your life to have just one more cigarette?

  4. it is very hard to ignite fuel with a cigarette but would you really want to take the slightest chance if it goes up it takes you with it. and that my friend is game over

  5. It is possible that it could explode but I think that you will likely be overcome from the flumes first.
