Hi folks,

I got some questions about the car insurance laws in TX:

1. Does insurer require to buy Personal Injury Protection (PIP)coverage?

2. My wife has health insurance and i don't have it, but when we buy car insurance, the quote is automatically for both drivers. So, how come i let them know if i want to be covered with PIP, but my wife doesn't need it?

3. Is that worth to buy PIP since the insurer can't claim PIP if he/she has already have UMBI coverage claim?

4. If Texas law requires an insurer to buy PIP, what the minimum PIP is allowed by Texas state?

  1. PIP doesn't cover the driver only.  It isn't even limited to the occupants of your car.  It covers anybody you injure with your car.

If you want to cover yourself only, buy health insurance.

  2. For auto insurance the fastest way to get a low quote is do a auto policy comparison. Be sure to choose the same coverage levels, you can get an accurate quote to compare against others. Use the same zip code, car make and model, mileage and driving history to make sure you get accurate comparison. To get mulitple auto insurance quotes, go to http://www.autoadviceonline.com/Free-Aut... and you can compare all the major auto insurance companies.
