Question:

Car Insurance - Traffic History?

I had an “at fault” auto accident 2 years ago. My insurance instantly increased $1,000 a year with Progressive. I am still insured with them, but they keep a 3 year history on file. I heard that some insurance providers only go back 2 years. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to look for new insurance?

  1. A $1,000. increase sounds excessive !   Try American Family Insurance of Madison Wi.  They don't sell in all states, but they are reasonable, fair and reliable.  I am insured by them had an at fault accident and they raised my (full coverage) rates $97.00 for the first year, then $48.00 for the second year then the increase was dropped

  2. You should ALWAYS shop around at least once a year for a better rate.  That sounds really excessive.  If you want to stay with Progressive and you find  a better rate elsewhere, you could always call Progressive and tell them what the other company is offering to see if they will match it.

  3. Try using http://My-InsuranceSearch.com to compare car insurance rates for all the major providers in your area.
