Car Insurance how many cars?!?

Can you have 2 cars insured under 1 insurance company? like my ex wants to put his car in my name & insure it (as it would be cheaper) but i have my own car that i already insure but i'll be changing my insurance company come january so how should i do it? me go ahaead & change my insurance in jan with the nxt car i get & let him insure under my name etc with the same company or do another company with his cat? what do you reckon?!! thanks!

You can insure as many vehicles as you like, either all with the same company on different policies, or with different companies.

However, if you register a car in your ex's name & insure it, you'll be completely liable for any fines, penalties, endorsements, etc - it sounds to me like he's trying to make a mug out of you.

This is your ex?

Do you want the problems of speeding tickets from cameras showing up in your mail box. Do you want to  pay for the ex's parking tickets?

Please don't!

What if he does a hit and run then disappears on you, how are you going to handle the knock on the door and going to jail?

don't put your ex's car in you name and insure it. that is a huge liability

The key word here is EX.  Let him get his own insurance. (But to answer your question...yes, you can insure more than one vehicle on the same policy.)

Hmmm - why is his insurance more expensive?  Has he had an accident?  It's your no claims on the line....

But in answer to your question - with direct line you can do what you suggest.  Though to be clear; the main driver of a particular car should have the insurance with additional drivers as "Named."  If he has an accident and the insurance company query it - then they might be in a position where they do not have to pay up.

Basically - dfon't do it.  Especially not for an Ex.
