  1. I suggest a Few Simple checks you can do your self

1- before trying to start engine and after it as been stopped for quit a wile check oil level it should be just below the top mark on dipstick TOO MUCH OIL FOWLS SPARK PLUGS.

2 Smell oil if it smells of petrol Engine is damaged or badly worn PETROL VAPER IN CRANK CASE STOPS ENGINE RUNING

3- Peugeot's have rubber hos breather pips that get car bend up and blocked and sometimes collapse with the engine vacuum AND STOPS THE ENGINE

4 Check and make sour the fuel filter as been replaced it should be clean and bright in appearance LOCATION UNDER REAR OF CAR NEAR FUEL TANK

If This doesnt help com back to me Good Look

  2. newer car??

    electrical problem.

  3. could be a lot of things, you don't have enough history on this car to do much.  I would take matters into my own hands and start changing some things like the fuel filter, etc.

  4. Your query makes no sense.

You say it won't start but it will tick over.  As it would have to start to tick over (idle) please explain the problem.

  5. If its second hand, i'd get a new clutch sorted, it might not be engaging a certain gear or something, because of the previous owner may of 'ragged da s**t' out of it and done 100 in 3rd, its possible in an astra ;)

As for the engine in the pergeot it could be a dodgey fuel pump. not pumpin enough fuel to spark the engine up? But then maybe clear, like it has a residue or something?

    These are guesses

  6. You flooded the engine! thats it, dont worry!

  7. It could be the Lambda sensor. Normally located on the exhaust manifold to measure oxygen levels. Normally they put the car on diagnostic machine for around £55 and it will tell you the problem. Sometimes it wont as in our case. Even at MOT the "specialist" said if the Lambda sensor is faulty then the MOT would fail its emmisions test. It didn't ... he tried to convince me that it may be the cam belt was fitted incorrectly.

We had a problem where our Renault would run fine for short trip, stop to fetch kids at school, then 15 min later, starts up, lack of power sometimes which returns a short while later. I replaced the Lambda sensor with a universal one (£32)  ... easy 15min job, and since then have not had a problem.

Mmmm ... Another thing might be the ignition coils. Oh, also make sure there are no splits in any of the little rubber hoses (air vacuum) ... apparently that can also cause similar problems.

Does yours have the problem in the same gear all the time? Try find a pattern to the behaviour if you can.

Good luck... I'm sure you'll get it sorted.

  8. For the first part of you question it could be worn valve seats I had a Ford which did this every morning but when it did fire it was ok for the rest of the day till next day when it started all over again.

The second problem you have could be a faulty clutch.
