Car Repossesion and vin?

I was way behind on my car note. It was not registered and the plates on it belonged to my last car. They were also expired. It was there this morning then this evening it was gone! I don't know if it was repossessed or stolen. I called the police and they cannot locate the vin number to the car. The can't pull anything up with the vin number to the car. I gave them the plates that were on the car and they said it must have been stolen because it has not been reported as repossessed. However the tire tracks from the car leaving looks smooth and pulled out with a wide turn. I was pulled in backwards so if stolen the thief would have had to back out then turn it. Tracks don't show that. It's sunday so the finance company is closed as well as the location were I bought the car from. ( Oddly enough the finance companies repo location is where I purchased the car. ) How can I be sure of what happened and who should I contact. Where do I go from here? What are normal repo fees, etc.?

  1. It was repossessed. Most loan companies out source for repos. It can take up 3 days for a repo to reported in the system. The police aren't going to give you much information due to the fact the plates weren't ever transferred. Get a hold of your loan company.

  2. you need to call you lone company and they will tell you but you need to give the cops the vin number because if they did reposses it they have to notify the cops before they do it. by law

  3. Try like crazy to work something out with the loan company. If you cannot, it'll be sold at auction and you will be liable for the difference between what it sells for and what you owe (probably thousands of dollars). If you cannot pay it, they can get a judgment against you and (depending on what state you live in) garnish wages.

Wouldn't matter how you parked, the repo man can get it. Plus, yes, it might take a few days to be reported to the police as repo'd.

Time is of the essence. I'd be on the phone to the loan company first thing tomorrow morning.

  4. PAY YOUR BILLS.....you deserve not to have it anymore
