Car Shocks....ride height? ?

i have a 1976 dodge dart...ive replaced everything under the front end and got it aligned but still the fron sits a little low. if i get adjustable shocks for it will i be able to adjust them to have the car sit a little higher?

  1. Some people pay extra for that.

    Springs need replaced.

    The only thing shocks do is slow the vertical travel of the wheels. Kinda...


  2. Richard S above is correct. The front suspension is suspended by torsion bars which allow each sides height to be adjusted individually. It's rare that these will wear out to the point that the height can not be raised. Find an alignment shop that has an old timer and quiz the alignment tech on torsion bars and setting ride height before allowing them to work on your vehicle. If the height is changed, the front end alignment will change, so they need to be done at the same time. Hope this helps.

  3. did you replace your springs? that sounds like what your problem is.

  4. Your car has torsion bars that are adjustable, why don't you simply adjust the ride height to where you want it? If no one has explained this to you, your in the wrong shop.
