Car Stereo Problems?

Hey guys, I have a 4 channel amp hooked up to the speakers in my car. Just recently my speakers have been going in and and out of power and it is starting to get real annoying. I thought it was a loose wire at first but after reconnecting the amp i found i was wrong. I do not think the problem is in the deck, due to the fact that my subwoofers still work. If any one has had a similiar problem any advice would help.

  1. It sounds like the amp is going into protect mode for something. Most likely, It's thermal or overload.

If the amp takes a while to fault out there's a good chance that it's thermal. If that's the case, make sure that the amp is mounted as close to level as possible. Assuming that the amp is not fan cooled. If it is, make sure that the fan/s are working and unobstructed.

If it does it right off the bat, most likely, It's in overload. There are a lot of things that can cause this. A bad voltage regulator in the charging system, too low an ohm load(doubt it, if it's om the mids and highs), something could even be dying in the output stage of the amp. It's really hard to figure this one out sometimes.
