Car Stereo System ideas??

I have an older Honda Accord and I was wondering what would be my best bet for a sound system that is within a budget of $1000 to $1500. Also will I need to make a lot of adjustments to the car doors and such because the speakers right now are box like with mesh covering.

  1. wow that's alot to spend on sounds, well here is one of the best setups if your just going to but and install and not get anything custom.

JL, kicker, or mtx subs. jl is the clearest, and kicker seems louder but doesn't have as good clarity.

rockford kicker amps. way underrated power so you know you get what you pay for.

alpine type s, or infinity 6x9 speakers  infinity may be the best but are a bit more expensive.

  2. Well, I started off small and made my way up, and now ive got one of the best setups ive ever heard, althought I'd deff upgrade my headunit if i had the money.

Im a BIG fan of Alpine headunits, they're reletively easy to use, with a ton of power.

Ive had pionner, sony, audiobahn, alpine, and kicker subs, kicker is a little over-rated but by far the best.

My amp, ive had PPI, Sony, Pioneer, American Legacy, and Hifonics is my newest one, Hifonics beats all others by a mile.

As for door speakers, I deff. need new ones, mine are all aftermarket, but I had minimal cash so the front ones are just a 70$ pair of sonys, and the rear ones are roadmasters, which is a cheapy brand, but they are awesome. You will need tweeters too, they dont do much at low vol, but if you like to crank it like me, they will make all the difference in the world.

Deffinitely spend a nice chunk on a good headunit, 250$ or more, its well worth every penny.

  3. Forget the over done JL. When will they just go away, there is way better out their people, JL is a waste of money. If you want a W7 type of sub, go get teh RE x*x, way better than anything that JL makes.

As for the 6.5" components look into Elemental Designs, best speakers that I have heard in a very long time. Subs, look into the same company 13Ov.2, or the 13Av.2, Ov line comapres to the type R's, 13Av.2 is better than the W7 (sound quality the W7 can not compare).  6X9's look into CDT Audio, woofersetc, or onlinecarstereo carries them, just can not remember which one right now. Elemental Designs also makes amps that are CEA-2006 compliant, and produce more than they say the do. Elemental Designs equipment also comes with a 6 year warranty, and great customer service.

For the stereo, go with Alpine, forget anything else.

My stereo is this, Panasonic 2.5 Volt preamp outs

Elemental Designs 6500 comps in front 150 watts rms

Memphis Audio Kevlar 6X9 150 watts rms

2 E;emental Designs 13Ov.2D4 1000 watts RMS wire to down to 1 OHM

    Crunch 900.4

    Crunch 1500.1 1OHM stable

People actually think that I spent around 3K for my system, I did not even pay 1500 for it. Sounds like I spent 3K on it though.
