Car Stereo turns on/off repeatedly....tech help please!

ok here's the deal. I bought this truck and CD player was jammed with 4 cd's (6 slot cd/AM/FM Radio). I brought it inside, dismantled it, and took the cd's out (there were a couple completely jammed in there) so I took all the guts out of the radio that had to do with the cd player (basically just the springs and the decks for each cd).

I put the player back in the dash, but now it turns on and off by itself. It will play for a few minutes after starting the truck, then it turns on/off. All of the button lights go on/off too. It DOES keep the correct time when it has turned itself off - so it must be getting power.

Any ideas?

it sounds like some thing was not put back in the right place

Sounds like it might have a short circuit. double check all the cable connections in and outside the cd player.
