I had a roomate who owes me over $400 she keeps giving me excuses as to why she cant send me the money. Saying that it was Walmarts fault because they were closed and stuff. And she keeps spending money on stuff that she doesnt need like a hot air ballon ride. So there is this Honda Passport we were driving while she was away with her boyfriend. She was supposed to have her boyfriend write out a bill of sale so that we could get the truck. Well they never sent it or the money. So what I want to do is have someone write me a bill of sale and get a title on it. I still have a set of keys to the vehicle. Oh yeah and they dont have a title for the car. So would this work or not? Do you think I should go through with it? Give me your opinion please. We really need this car to get jobs and save money so that we can get out of my moms house.

Let me know what you think. :)

Oh and she gave us the car and was supposed to sign over a bill of sale for us the car was in her name. So that we could go get it liscensed. I moved to Missouri and we left the car there beacuse it wasnt technically ours. And we are still trying to get her to send us the bill of sale.

  1. no title means no ownership so i wouldnt even try it who ever has the title owns the car

  2. you need the title to gain ownership.  the roomate will need to apply for a lost title.  once they have that, provided that there are no lienholders, she can sign over the vehicle to you.

a bill of sale is just for proof of the exchange of money.  you will need it when you transfer the title at the dmv so that sales taxes can be determined.  you cannot get a title with a bill of sale, legal or not.

no title signed over, no ownership.  the only other option will be applying for an abondoned vehicle title, but the dmv will contact the prior owner of record.

No you do not get a title with a bill of sale.  You need a current title that has to be signed over. THAT is the actual paper work that says the car is being sold.  The bill of sale is just for sale price.

As for the rest - your room mate sucks.  After this problem is done - curse her out and let her know what a wench she is.

    good luck...
