My family and another family will be going on a road trip. It is 40 hours, so we obviously cannot pack food for each meal, but healthy eating is very important to us. Yes, we slack a little on trips, but still... Could you give us some ideas for easy traveling food. The passengers are 13yrs, 14yrs, 4yrs, 4yrs, 4yrs, 4yrs, and 4 adults. Something besides boring sandwiches please. Also, does our snack list look good? On the way back, we will stop at a grocery store and buy more snacks and drinks and food if needed.
For these things, they will be in individual packets or bags. The number that I list, is how many we are bringing. Most of the stuff is also an organic brand of the food I am listing.
Teddy Grahams (20)
Cheez-Its (10)
Fruit Snacks (15)
Goldfish (20)
Cheerios (15)
Cookies (10)
Crackers (30)
Pretzels (30)
Baked Chips (15)
Animal Crackers (25 individual boxes)
Other Chips (for older kids) (10)
Graham Bumper Cereal (20)
Granola Bars (25)
Dried Fruit (20)
For fruit, we are bringing:
Apples (20)
Pears (10)
Peaches (8)
Grapes (10 individual bags)
Strawberries (10 individual bags)
Other things:
Cheese Sticks (10)
Donut Holes (1 container - for the 2 husbands)
Licorice (2 bags for the adults and teens)
Bagels (10 + 10 cream cheese packets)
Jello Jigglers (1 container)
Pudding Cups (6)
Grapefruit (2 for myself and the other mom)
DRINKS:
When a number has a c after it, it means a mini can of soda, b means a bottle of soda. Soda is a special treat and if they are in a car for 40 hours, they deserve a treat. The bottles are for the adults and teens. Mini cans are for the little guys.
Soda (8c, 10b)
Juice Boxes/Bags (1 box)
Mini Juice Bottles (20)
Water Bottles (2 packs or 48 bottles)
Milk Boxes (30 - basically a juice box but filled with milk)
Propel (1 pack of 12)
Gatorade (12 mini bottles)
I know, it seems like a lot, but these kids snack a lot! lol
Any other ideas? We are going to buy them each a treat of their choice at the last rest stop before we get to our hotel.
Please help with the meal ideas....?
