While driving yesterday when i pressed the break the steering wheel started to shake a little, it went away but this morning on my way to work, it started up again. I'm just wondering what it could be and possibly how much it might cost to get it fixed ^_^;

  1. Sounds to me like you have a warped brake rotor. What causes this most times is when you have had to stop really quickly while going at a substantial rate of speed and needed to apply the brakes for a long period of time. What happens is the brake rotor then gets heated up too much and warps (gets out of balance). This will cause the break pads then to be running over an uneven surface giving you that pulsing or shimmy affect in the steering wheel.

    Depending on the severity of the warping you could have the rotors cut (re balanced) which would save a few bucks but if they have already been cut before or are in bad shape they will need to be replaced. Also good Idea to have the brake pads replaced at the same time. Most times you should be fine with just replacing the front brake pads, since they do 70% of the vehicles stopping over the rears.

    This should cost you around $250- $350 for rotors and new brake pads,depending on the type of vehicle. Go to a local mechanic and have them diagnosed. If you are un sure of their price being fair get a second opinon before having work done.Better to compare than spend too much.

    Good Luck!

  2. Brakes rotors or front end issues>Take in for an estimate>

  3. Seems like your brakes need repair. Possible a frozen caliper which costs about 80.00 dollars.

  4. warped rotors, they need resurfacing or replacemrnt.  cost depends on make and model.
