How and What do you make that crazy Spooling noise when a turbo car revs up

that high pitch like whineing sound..

can that noise be made louder or qiter after a turbo is installed

  1. That noise is the actual turbo fan spinning.  A turbo is like a fan that is powered from the pressure of the exhaust gases and is used to force more air into the engine.  The "HISSSSHH" noise when you take your foot off the throttle is the waste-gate opening to let the excess pressure escape.  It makes the noise that it makes, you can't make it louder or quieter.


  2. its the exhaust driving the turbine in the turbo charger and the intake turbine pushing air so fast. think of it as a miniature plane engine driven by the air coming from your exhaust. if you hear whooshing noises when you let off the gas. that's prolly a wastegate that lets excess air pressure out of the system. can't really be made quieter or louder i don't think.

  3. it is the fan in the turbo spooling up or if a car is supercharged you will get a similar sound.
