I had a wreck..of course. I rear-ended a lady about 75 feet in front of a stop sign. She stopped suddenly and i dindn't have time to stop before i hit her and the street was busy. No where to go. However as soon as i hit i looked over her head and saw there was no one there. Giving no reason for her to stop. I really thought she had hit somebody in front of her becasue she slammed on her brakes like that. But no. No reason. I hit her car going about 20 mph. It did major damage to my car..shifted motor, busted radiatior. Crushed hood up with both finders and more damage under the hood and body. The lady had no drivers lisense. She got a ticket and the cop told me he wasn't going to give me one..which he didn't. And with all the damage the cop was concerned why my airbags didn't deploy and told me to check into it. I have a 2005 honda accord. We called the honda people and they gave us a claim number...i'm not sure what will come of that...does any of you? the car was certified when we bought it and had no defeacts. What could and might come of this situation. I had my seat belt on thank godness. I live in Arkansas and have insurance with Farm Buearu. I'm wondering what will come of the entire situation..we still have to get an estimate on the car.

  1. Typical situation you have like many other people, therefor,be patient and check out the resource here i found useful.http://car-insurance.freetipsonline.info...

  2. First off, in regards to the accident.  You will suffer the effect of being primarily at fault for the incident.  She may take a small percentage if she can't give a reasonable account for why she stopped.  Could be she 'thought' she saw another car or a pedestrian, which gives her ample reason for stopping.  You have a duty not to follow too closely for just such a case.

For the airbags, Honda vehicle manufacturer books that come with the car explain in what instances airbags will deploy.  It takes a good impact and a specified front end hit.  I would try to find the book that comes with your year vehicle for more of an explanation.

  3. File the claim.

The adjuster will investigate it and determine liability.

As far as the air bag goes.....the air bag control module is usually under the drivers seat. The sensors are in the front of the car. The air bag is triggered by the sudden stop.  If you were not injured and the air bag did not fire -- then it was not needed. The air bags deploy very fast. If they fire in an improper situation they cause more injuries than they prevent.
