Question:

Car accident, driver's license can get suspended?

I live in California.

I was in a car accident in late April and I was taken to the ER. So, I was basically out of it for two weeks and wasn't able to do everyday things. My insurance agent was taking care of everything so I assumed that they took care of reporting the accident since I was unable to do so at the time. I got a letter from the DMV stating that I've never reported the accident and that my driver's license can get suspended and I have TWO days to return the letter all the way back to Sacramento, but I live in SoCal so that can take DAYS. The letter was mailed out on the 12th but I just got it around 2 days ago and I am having problems contacting my insurance company. What can I do? It says that my insurance company has to sign a part on the form but they are unable to and I can't reach them. Help?

  1. i am afraid you are stuck. you could tell your insurence company they are fired for not reporting the accident but that is about it that i know of you could take a plane or train to the place(s) you have to go or call up theDMV and ask for more time

  2. yes you can ! you were under doctors care and unable to fill out the request DMV wants and the insurance company should have taken care of everything... their is a phone number for DMV, and also your insurance give the DMV your policy number and all and they will indeed put pressure on them thats their responsability as well ,,, yes they will fax it to them, but i would'nt waste any more time on it!
