Car accident, how to find worth of my laptop to claim in insurance?

the insurance company needs to know how much my computer laptop is worth. its a sony vaio pcg-k16. how do i go about getting it etimated. i bought it a few years ago for about 1500 dollars.

  2. Most insurance companies will require purchase receipt and then they will use a depreciation schedule from there to tell you what they will pay you. You can use e-bay or similar source to prove that the current selling price for a used model is going for more than what they are willing to pay you. Hopefully they will work it out. Otherwise it may require you to go to the mediation process to try and work it out. Good Luck!

    Are they looking at it's value or replacement cost?

    It's value is less than what you paid for it. Computers loose value veru fast as new, better ones come out so quickly. A computer you paid $1500 for three or four years ago is probably worth 1/10th of that today.

    It's replacement value would be whatever it would cost to replace it with a similar one, which is probably about the same as you paid.
