I live in NC. I was in a car accident;received whiplash, low back pain, and my left eye is drooping. The guy who hit me is fault. I don't have medical insurance. My car insurance company used my med-pay & gave me a check for $2000 to pay my emergency room bill. Is it ok for me to make monthly payment arrangements with the emergency room & use the $2000 so that I can be seen by a doctor to find out what's wrong with my eye & fix it?

  1. First of all, I don't understand why they paid you, and not the provider directly?

Secondly, if the other driver is at fault, you should be submitting your medical bills to his company. After you are done with treatment his company will review and evaluate your claim and present an offer to you.

Finally, making monthly payments to the ER is something you would have to discuss w/ their billing/collections department.

    Hope this helps
