This past sunday I was involved in a 3 car pile up, me being the last. I know it was my fault becuase you suppost to be in control of your car at all times. I cause of it all was car #1 wanted to make a left turn and missed the turn and slammed on her breaks causeing car #2 to hit her and then me hit him. We couldn't have been going more than 20mph so no one was seriously injured except car #2 had a scratch on his forehead, probably from not wearing his seatbelt. So I made the claim, there is a little dent on my bumper, car #2 had a scratch on the front and back of his car but not major damage at all, and car #1 had their bumper smushed in. It just so happen that car #2 was the son of car#1 when i looked up the claim online it shows they are going after my insurance for car#1's damage, car #2's damage and the guys injurys. is that normal to go after me for car #1 I know for a fact that car #2 hit car #1 not me!! Also their insurace keeps calling me for my statement i have already given my statement to my insurance company should i give the other insurance company another statement?

  1. Their insurance company should NOT be contacting you directly.  You should give them your insurance company name and number.

It is up to your insurance company to sort out the details and determine fault. (based on information from you, the other ins companies and the police report).

    Good luck.

  2. I would tell them to contact my insurance co.

  3. Sounds to me as if car #2 is responsible ONLY for car #1 (and car #2's front end damage) and you are responsible ONLY for car #2 rear damage (and your car)

I would have called the police IMMEDIATELY

  4. It's important to know if you had a police report. Many times the investigating officer will place the blame if it's obvious at the scene who was at fault. Yes you are supposed to be in control of your car at all times, but no one ever expects bad drivers to do the things they do. Try calling your agent and explaining the events to them. Sometimes they can be very helpful.

  5. You should be liable for car # 2 only. To put it bluntly car #2, and you was following to close to car #1. So I would talk with my insurance and find out why they are trying to charge you for car #1 damages. When car #2 should pay for Car #1's damages, and you should pay for car #2 damages.

  6. You should on be responsible for the car you directly hit! It wasn't your fault, clarify this with the insurance company.
