I was in a car accident where the drive hit me in the rear while i was stopped and was found 100 percent totally at fault. When i first called the insurance company they said that i could only take it to one place to get a estimate and they would have to fix it there. So i took it to that place and they said it would be a month till they got to it well this pisses me off i have a huge dent in my car and its going to take a month to get it fixed. So then i called back and now they are saying ican take it anywhere i want to but i have to keep the same estimate. My girlfriend was in the car but we both said neither of us was hurt. The only thing this insurance has done is try to s***w me over and not return none of my calls they have also lied to me on occastions i always have to call them to fiqure whats goign on. Whats the best way i can get the most money out of them without a lawyer or middle man cause i cant afford one. The company that the lady has that hit me is Liberty Mutual.

  3. OK, when you get estimates, you don't have to show any of them to the insurance company until you make your final decision.  It's to your benefit to get several estimates, and give the highest one to the insurance company.  They know and assume that people do that.

Beyond that, when you're having it fixed, if they end up charging more than the estimate, the repair shop will work it out with the insurance company to get more money.

If the problem is not having something to drive, the other drivers insurance should pay for a rental car for you.

You're not going to have cash in your pocket by "getting the most money out of them," but should be more concerned about having a good repair shop do a good job fixing it. If you don't want to fix it at all, then you're still not going to be better off, other than some cash in your pocket.

Finally, I hope you called your insurance company too.  they may or may not offer much help at first, but if you have "underinsured/uninsured" coverage, you can ask your own insurance to cover what the other company didn't pay.  At that point, your insurance company will say that the other company should pay it, and probably end up calling them.  If you only have liability, that might not work out as well.

good luck, it can be a difficult process, but usually works out fine.

  4. Best thing to do, is put the claim in on YOUR insurance, and let your insurance company wrestle the money out of them.

If you don't have collision coverage, just go ahead and get it fixed, and sue the driver in small claims court.  Don't forget to add in court fees, and a rental car for the time your car is in the shop.
