  1. You can buy a freon kit and simply recharge the system.  It comes with everything you need.  It's not brain surgery, you just unscrew this and s***w that on, turn the valve, and do everything in reverse to finish.  It's a standard kit available at any auto parts store, even Wal-Mart has 'em.

Be sure your system didn't leak because it's damaged.  If you have a major leak somewhere, recharging will be an effort in futility.

  2. The most common problem is the gas leaks out of the system. The easiest thing you can check yourself is whether or not the A/C clutch is pulling in. To do this have the car running, the bonnet (hood) up & have someone switch the A/C on - you should hear the A/C clutch pull in (loud click) & the revs should change slightly. If you can see the clutch easily (pulley on the front of the A/C compressor then you should be able to see it move. If the clutch is not engaging you will not have cold air! Like I said the gas has probably leaked out in this case. Take it to a specialist & ask for dye test to be done before just refilling it. If it leaked out once it will leak again. A dye test will show where the leak is & what needs to be repaired/replaced.

Of course there are other factors - is the belt tight enough on the pulley, are the electrics ok etc etc but gas is most common fault.

    Good luck

  3. You either have a leak in the AC lines, or you need to have your freon filled.

  4. They don't make Freon anymore, so go to your nearest automotive store and buy some R134A AC coolant.. Very easy to do it yourself. Takes about 10 minutes and you are good to go!

  5. It could be the little vent doors which switch air-flow.

But most likely, your refrigerant has leaked out.

Go to an A/C specialist for a test.

  6. You can probably just add some R134a refrigerant to the system.  You can buy a recharge kit at any auto parts store.  However, you have a leak in the system, so this is a temporary fix.  If it's a really slow leak, you might get by for a season or longer.  Or you may have to add more.  Eventually, you'll need to fix the leak.
