  1. be very carefull it is very easy for a vehicle to get on fire burn if you make a mistake

you need to know about diodes and how relays work

ford and gm are not that dificult  if they are 2003 and newer

    youhave to be carefull

  2. Not sure if you can do alarms either , But this may help you get the wiring correct anyway. http://www.the12volt.com/ . Just look up your car , and go to town. I usually find that putting in a blinking led from radio shack for $5 works almost as well. Good luck.

  3. Wait one moment... stop and think this thru...

If your car is like 1995 or older, then chances are you really wont damage much.  If its 1996 or newer, there are lots of computers and air bag sensor wires in the cars

Putting in an alarm is completely different from putting in a radio/amp/speaker.   radio/amp/speaker is pretty much universal and only takes 4-5 wires to hook up to your car (the rest is internal or just to speakers)

Every car/make/model/year is different and even an experienced installer would not start working on an alarm without a proper wiring printout on the vehicle/make/model/year/options of the car he is working on.

If a professional is working on a print-out, a do-it-yourselfer will have a real hard time on the alarm.  (Plus its real easy to accidently set off an air bag or mess up a computer in the car from 1 wrong wire just being touched with a wire probe.

Plus, you can even get Circut City to put in an alarm for $250-$300,  Python (circut city brand from VIPER) is an ok alarm
