Question:

Car amp clipping?

ok i dont have the gain that high its less then half and its still the light is blinking like crazy not sure what it is i have an infinity 311a amp and a 250 watt rms cheap mtx jack hammer sub good enough for me the clipping thing is just scarying me lol does any one have any thing i could try ?

  1. You should try setting the gain with a DMM (digital multimeter).  Then you will know that the gain is set correctly and won't have to worry even if the light is blinking.  

    The links below show you how to set the gain properly.  If you don't have a DMM go out and pick one up.  You can get one fairly cheap ($15 or so, cheaper at Harbor Freight).  Sparky also has a guide that tells you how to set it with a DMM.

  2. What size is your power and ground wire?I know its a small amp...but sometimes not have adequate power supply or ground will cause the light to blink

  3. you amp could be getting a clipped signal from the source unit. you might need to turn the volume down on you head unit and set you amps gain with a dmm
