Question:

Car amp fuse keeps blowing?

I have a Bazooka amp hooked up to two Sony Xplod subs. Ive had this setup for years without any problems until recently i noticed that the subs weren't working. I checked my fuses and noticed that the fuse(25a) next to my battery was blown. So, I replaced the old 25a fuse with a 30a fuse and everything seemed okay. However, about 1 hour later, that new 30a fuse blew out. Since then, every fuse i put in has blown as soon as i put it in the socket. I have checked the wires and they seem fine, like i said, this setup was fine for years until now. I cant tell if it is a bad amp or something else (maybe a bad battery?) Has anyone heard of something like this before?

  1. If you put in a 60 amp fuse and watch for smoke, you will find where the problem is.....(just kidding) sounds like a bad amp..

  2. you have a short! putting a higher amp fuse in only allows that much more amperage to flow before blowing your fuse.your short may be in your amp(subs) or you may have a wire grounding out causing the short. trace your wires from your fuse box or wherever your fuse is located. unfortunately this is a process of elimination. good luck

  3. you have a short in the circuit, and only use the correct amp fuse, if u keep going higher and higher in resistance youll burn some of your wires, infact you might have already. but just look through your circuit and make sure u dont have any short circuits
