im 13, and tomorrow im going on a 2 and a half hour car ride, and i have a worry of pooing my pants, how can i get over it, or at least make it not as bad

  1. poo before you go so that way you know you won't have to .....or try to eat something light and not heavy before going on this trip.

  3. Poo builds up because your body processes food and other stuff in your body, and gets rid of what it doesn't use. It takes about 12-24 hours for food to be taken in before the stuff your body can't use fills up enough of your bowels to make you need to go.

    Have a light light breakfast in the morning, just enough to tide you over until the car ride is over (don't want to add anything else to whatever is down there.) If you are still hungry, fill up on water instead. Water will still make you feel full, but the stuff your body can't use will go to your bladder instead, and liquid wastes are processed much faster, which means you can pee more frequently (and feel less full) than you can poo.

    A good idea for helping you relax is about a half an hour before you are ready to leave, go in the bathroom and just sit there. Sometimes, if we are anxious, our body clenches up, which means using more energy, and turning more of that food energy into waste, which we can't get rid of until we start to relax. By going in there a half an hour before you leave, you give yourself enough time to sit there and relax, and are able to convince yourself that you have gotten rid of as much waste as you can. That should free up enough space inside so that you won't feel the need to go during your car trip, and thus give you the confidence you need to make it through.

    Its a good idea, before your next long car trip, to make sure you stop eating at least 24 hours before you leave. That way, any food still being processed inside, and any waste it creates, should be out of your system by the time you go on your trip. Once you are underway, then you can start snacking, because it will take longer than the 2 1/2 hours for the food you are eating now to be processed.
