Car audio experts: help?

Question

Our subs stopped hitting, they still look like they're working, there's just no sound coming out. My boyfriend found a bad fuse, so he bought a pack of em. He immediatly popped two as soon as he put them in. I've gotten 3 different theories so far as to what it can be. Can anyone say with all certainty what's going on??

What do you mean by they look like they're working? If you mean that the cone is still moving, then it's possible it's just not moving as much or as hard which could be a blown sub. The fact that fuses are blowing suggests a short in the circut. Check to make sure that exposed wires aren't touching an therefor shorting something out.

If the fuses are popping as soon as you put them in,(assuming that the amp was off at the time) , There is definitely a problem with either the amp or the wiring.

The reason they are pulsing the way they are is because the amps power supplies are surging, if you are not careful you will rip your subs apart.

I would recommend you taking this to a professorial and have it checked out in the mean time un hook the amp to prevent any further damage.

The problem with this question is extensive any number of reasons could be the problem most common the amp cant handle the subs or you have to much going on with one amp.  You always want to have an amp that can handle more than the sub or speakers can put out and check your wiring make sure none of your lines have burned out.  Also please remember any wiring you have that is tightly bent maybe bad works the same as a waterhose for a current to flow through it needs to be in a comfortable position.

do you have a 4 or 8 gauge coming from the battery to the amp and make sure you have no wires from the amp touching that will result in blowing fuses to prevent damaging the amp and also make sure you have the right fuse amp in if is like a 12,20 amp most amps require like a 30amp or 40am
