I went out today and replaced it i have everything electrical taped around the plastic piece but i just realized when i took out the fuse it had a number 80 on it. The one i put in today had a number 50 on it. What should i do??? I have 2 kicker cvr subs and a kenwood excellon amp. PLEASE HELP

  1. You need to look at your amp and see the ratings of the fuse/fues on the amp.  The fuse connected inline from the battery terminal must be equal or greater in ratings than the total ratings of the fuse/fuses on the amp.

  2. The new fuse may blow. If it doesn't, your fine. As long as the new fuse is a lower rating it won't cause any damage. Consult the owners manual for the amp to find out what the rating should be.

They bigger question is, why did the fuse blow. If everything is working properly that shouldn't happen. The main reason for a fuse is to protect against shorts and overloads. Normal use won't cause this.

  3. being lower it wont hurt it, but it will blow easier.  i blew my 60 amp fuse using a frequency generator on my laptop going at 20hz, thing didnt last 3 seconds = )
