Hi, i dont know much about all this stuff but i want a new sound system in my car. If i bought a cd player with an amp output can i just plug an amp into it and then speakers and a sub into the amp?

Or do the speakers have to go straight into the cd player?

Thanks

  1. typically your 4 main component speakers will be powered by the internal amplifier in the head unit...

the subwoofers are typically powered by an external amplifier...

you can power whatever speakers you like with whatever amplifier you choose, but they sound best when you "match" RMS wattage and impedence...

  2. your mids aka your speakers can go into both. if you put them to your amp it puts out more watts and has a better, crisp sound. just make sure you get a powerful enough amp to push your mids and lows. i would suggest getting a amp that put out rms watts. just got one and love it

  3. I had the same issue you had, and my car tech told me to get an amp with a built-in crossover. Cost-effective, but good quality was very important to me.  And this is the AMP I got:

then I got the 10" subwoofers from Konaki, which really thump for being 10" here's the link:

Make sure you get a proper wiring harness, I've ssen pictures of cars basically "frying" because you tried saving a little too much money, and not getting the proper wiring.

    Here's the harness I got:

I paid a tech $ 50 to put it together for me, and took him about 2 hours.  The reason I bought these specific items, was because the tech took me to a car show, and some of the cars on display has this same equipment installed, and sounded awesome...and at 2 years I've had trouble free usage.  Hope this helps...
