Car damage?

One of my friends has just started driving in the United States. While driving through one of the small roads, he misjudged his right side and brushed a parked car, and broke his own sideview mirror on the right side and also damaged his door.He got nervous, and didn't think of stopping. He somehow came home trembling with his experience. However, now he is feeling bad about the incident and he wishes he had stopped to see the damage he has done to the other car and paid for it.He is also scared that fleeing the site of the incident is also against law. It has been 5 days now and no one contacted him. What should he do now?

  1. fix my mirror and door and hope noone saw it lol

  2. id say forget it, if there was no witnesses or any survelliance then your friend will be just fine. i went through the same situation, and i fled, and nothing happened. so your friend is safe. telling the truth can sometimes get you in trouble

  3. Well it does suck for whoevers car he hit, i mean i know i'd be pissed if someone hit my car and left it (o wait, it has happened to me -  twice) Speaking from the view of the person whose car was hit, it sucks. Especially if your insurance doesn't cover drivers who hit and run, then your out of luck. I'm sure he messed up the paint on the other car, and maybe some other stuff. Not cheap, from the standpoint of the guy/girl you hit, he shuda stopped, or at least come back and owned up to it. i know if whoever hit my car owned up to it, i would have just asked for the damage to be paid and not reported it and turned them in for hit and run.

From your friends stand point though, seems he's gotten away with it. Its been 5 days, if anyone had gotten his license plate the cops would have been at his door already most likely. Fleeing the site of an accident is against the law. But if he's already made that decision what more can you do about it but hope it doesn't come back to you?

i wud have just stopped, i hate it when people hit my car and drive off. If it happened to your friend, he'd be pretty upset, so if it ever does happen, guess he really can't get mad about it.

Someone backed into the rear of my car, and my insurance didn't cover it at that time, so now i have messed up area of my bumper, before i was able to get my full coverage, someone hit it again, this time in the front. So now i have a nice chunk of damage, and new front and rear bumper + pearl paint is about $1000. Nobody ever came back, never found out who did, no note. So i'm left to pay damage myself. you have insurance for a reason, to PAY for things like that.
