Question:

Car dealership trying to s***w me?

When I leased my car from Cory Fairbanks Mazda in Longwood, FL there was an agreement to set up monthly credit card payments for the car to the dealership. I get a call from Mazda credit union saying they have not recieved payments from me - which means the dealership hasn't been paying Mazda directly

I'm trying to sort this out; both the dealership and the credit union have been a pain to deal with

What should I do? I'm considering not paying my dealership on the credit card, filing a complaint, and possibly taking them to a small claims court

  1. Since you paid with a credit card, you can ask the bank that issued your credit card to assist you.  You can dispute the charges on the basis that the dealership has not acted in accordance with your written agreement, if you in fact have a written agreement with the dealership.  You must communicate in writing, and send by certified mail, to the address listed for billing inquiries on the back of your credit card statement.

Then, cancel the automatic payments on your credit card.  Deal directly with the credit union that holds the financing.

If you are having trouble with the credit union, you can complain to their regulator, the National Credit Union Administration.  You can reach NCUA at 1-703-518-6360.

You might also file a complaint about the dealership with your state's Attorney General's office.
