Car electricity problms!! please help?

Question

hi, how funny when i turn the lights of my car at night and the back lights suddnley don't work, (if i keep my lights off the back lights work perfectly!!) soo whats wrong with it??

Could be the power drain from the headlights.  They use so much power that if your cars battery or altenator can't supply the power then it will appear that the tail lights go out.  Your headlights are probably not that bright either.  Any trouble starting the car?  Have the battery checked and then the altenator.

there may be some internal short-circuting, you should get it to a mechanic because that usually isn't easily solved. There is a fusebox usually one under the hood and one somewhere hidden between the door and dashboard that you can check for broken fuses, but really it seems like an internal electrical problem.

maybe your car battery doesnt have enough power ( volts ) to keep all the lights running the front headlights uses more power at full blast Lol

so try changing your battery or check your wiring

I'll go with the idea that you have a weak battery possibly caused by bad alternator. Your not push starting your car are you? That's a good sign of a dead battery.

I've had them get so bad mashing the brakes caused the headlights to go out, that makes driving interesting. It can get to the point your spark plugs quite sparking.

sounds like a relay to me.

open your fuse box, there maybe two. one under the hood and one inside. check your owbers manual for locations, There are two different basic components taht plug into the fuse box. Smaller colorful fuses and  some big black or grey boxes called relays. Find all the  ones labeled  lights and take them to a car place and have them tested. Be sure to  keep track which ones go where. there are some that look alike but are NOT interchangeable.
