Car engine shakes violently when idle

Question

When parked, or have the breaks on at a stop light, the engine shakes the car violently. This never used to have in the last 4 years.. What could be the issue now?

you didnt say what knida car it is,but my gues would be its tune up time

I have to agree with Julio time for some fuel injector cleaner (berrymans b12 is a great one), new air filter, new fuel filter, but most importantly replace the plugs and plug wires.  Now it could be something more major than a simple tune up but since you didn't mention a Check Engine Light I would have to guess that is all you need.  For a better answer include mileage, age, last known tune up, type of normal man't performed.  Hope this helps you.
