  1. It will do real harm but make sure the loose bits don't flap about and cause more damage.  Keep the revs down or too much noise could attract attention from the police.  Make sure the hatchback or boot is properly closed so fumes don't enter the car.  Get it fixed asap.

  2. Please DON'T USE THE CAR until it is REPAIRED the problem is you WILL BE GASSED as the way the car operates and the gases and vacuum (vortex) created by the way the car drives will cause the gas from the exhaust to suck into the car you will ingest the gases and worse you will not notice the toxicity level in your body until it is too late.

Carbon Monoxide gas will overdose in your blood stream without you knowing until you start to show symptoms and by then it is very possible that it's too late!

If you cant afford the rear box try to connect some sort of pipe to extend the outlet so it exits past the back of the car that way the exhaust gases will not be sucked intot he car so much, or better than that don't use the car until you can fix it properly.

Hope this is some help good luck

  3. You will be given points & a fine if you're stopped, so I wouldn't chance it for a fortnight!

    Shouldn't do any harm though.

  4. You  may notice fumes entering the car, a small loss in power and a slight increase in fuel consumption, overall though, no damage, apart from to your wallet if you get stopped!

  5. You could end up with toxic exhaust gases entering the car, also it will be very loud.

  6. I'd get it fixed as soon as possible...toxic exhaust fumes can and will enter the vehicle, Have a competent exhaust tech examine the entire system.

  7. You might get fumes in the car cos the pipe no longer projects from the car.Otherwise less mpg, more petrol. The engine is not utilising the exhaust length it was designed for. The  ECU 'compensates' with more petrol-rich mixture, not good for the catalytic converter and they're more expensive to replace than just a back box.

I think I would take the risk if the financial need was greater, and maybe worry myself to death in the meantime.

Cat's aint cheap, but a cop would likely let you off with a caution, but dont take the chance if avoidable.

  8. if back box is the same as a muffler... not you should be okay to drive for a while..... if it was broken before any of the 02 sensors yes this would cause a problem the car would get false readings and your fuel mixture would be effected... also if broken pre converters this may change your back pressure by too much and could result in burnt exhaust valves in the cylinder head.... back pressure is needed to keep the temps at bay

  9. no it will not
