  1. NO! If you're engine is getting to much gas it's either a carburetor or fuel injection problem. Where in the world did you get the idea that it was a distributor cap problem?

  2. one as little to do with the other......what kind of car and yr.. have you tried a air filter or fuel system cleaner

  3. NOT LIKELY. Sounds like a mis-diagnosis to me.

Better have someone else check your vehicle.

  4. The distributor cap has nothing to do with the amount of fuel going to the engine.  If your engine is non-fuel injected, adjusting the carburetor will give it the proper amount of fuel. If it is fuel injected, then the injectors have to be "tuned".  Any legitimate mechanic knows this and would not even suggest the distributor cap unless he is: a scam artist; not a mechanic.

  5. Honey, the distributor cap has nothing to do with your car getting too much gas. Try your fuel injectors.

  6. Could be the injectors are dumping fuel into the engine. Try listening for the injectors clicking while the engine is cranked. Take a long screwdriver and put the tip on the base of the injector and your ear to the handle. Have someone crank the engine and listen for the click. It should be a sharp click. A dull sounding clip indicates a dirty injector that is not sealing.

If you hear one single click, then either the brown/yellow and/or the yellow/red wire is pinched to ground or the PCM is bad.

You can try taking a small vacuum line off the intake, actually making a vacuum leak, and see if it will start. If it does, then you have a problem with the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV).

Also check the seals for the rotors, if they are bad no compression builds up.

If it's not fuel injected, adjust the carburetor.

(the distributor routes voltage to the spark plugs)

  7. wow i see we all aggree that the answer is simply no
