Car help!!! mileage?

what is considered good mileage?

give examples of whats good, whats really good, and whats bad, or really bad!

Fair- 50-70,000

good-20-40,000

Excellent- 10-20,000

I drove 25 000 in 10 months:P But the average is around 15000

There isn't a really good answer. There are cars with 150,000 miles on them that are a great deal. Then there are others that have been beaten nearly to death by the time they are at 25,000 miles. I sold my old Nissan to a friend with a little over 200,000 miles on it (family owned since new). He drove it for something like 5 years and it finally died at around 250,000 miles. Not too bad for a $500 car.

Don't worry about mileage as much as the condition of the car. It also never hurts to bring it to a mechanic that you trust to have it looked over.

Look the one you are thinking of up in Consumer Reports and see how reliable they tend to be. That's another good idea that has served me pretty well.

All depends.. depends on the car.. depends on your luck.. I have known brand new off the lot cars to just die within weeks of purchase... I have known cares with 300k miles to do just fine...

the best car I ever owned had like 140k miles on it.. I paid 100 dollars and drove it for 2 years .. had about 180k when I junked it.. and it still ran just fine...

.. like .. if a car has 100k. thats considered high mileage.. but if it runs really good.. and doesnt have any noticeable problems... its quite possible that it will run you for a while longer and be ok.. because it was obviously well maintained...

.. honestly. cars have so many parts... and so many ways to fail and break down on you.. its really more about luck than anything.  well.. cept for toyotas... those things just seem to run forever.
